Frustrated!!!

I am a hard working American who keeps to himself but is frustrated with the direction society has taken us.  Everyone is offended by something, we have freedom of speech and press but unlike our fathers, we seem to be unable to exercise it.  The gas/environmental crisis is a issue that worries me.

Many opinions I read or hear bother me on their face but I respect that individuals point of view and attempt to see it from their angle.  But as society moves forward there is an obnoxious flavor that their view is correct and everyone else is dumb.

Al Gore and his scare the world under water tactics are a prime example.  Mr. Gore engulfs the public with his blubberings of how we need to reduce fossil fuels and protect the environment and, agreeing something needs to be done, I do not want the government to come at me with this holier than thou attitude.  Shouldn't Mr. Gore reduce his "carbon foot print" by selling the mansion and the Gulf Stream before telling little ole me that I cannot drive my SUV.  This might motivate us to take action.

The unfortunate truth is our Framers of this Greatland designed the U.S.A. so we could do what we wanted under general laws and provisions.  Gas prices will continue to rise and I have made a choice to drive my truck and if I have to pay higher prices, so be it.  Our current leaders are quick to tell us the luxaries we have to forefeit but ther keep their same lifestyles.

Democrats preach that the are the stewards of the American Public and the time is here.  If they truly cared about the American public, the environmental movement would be placed on the back burner and the oil supply would rise and prices would fall.

Let's move foreward, I am holding my public officials accountable, are you.

Success is not the actions of one, yet the hard work of many.

The Paper 'Race'

I would like to thank most media outlets of our great country for embedding the ideas if you do not vote for Senator Obama, you are deemed racist.  God forbid we cast our vote based on merit and prior performance.

The Louisville Courier-Journal issued and paid for an editorial cartoon which depicted Kentuckians as fat white bigots who vote exclusively on race.  The reality is that my fellow Kentuckians have strong moral values and are disrupted by Senator Obama's terrorist friend, freedom hating preacher, Mrs. Obama's lack of pride of America and his stereotype of people clinging to their Bibles and guns.  As a bitter American who clings to his Bible and right to bare arms, I must confess these remarks will weigh on my vote.  Not race, gender or religious affiliation.  Apparently to most experts in the Media, Americans are not permitted to vote base on what their hearts and their beliefs allow.

Over the past days, the editorial page has been filled with sickness over the cartoon or justification.  Pam Platt, with the C-J, attempted and failed to explain the cartoon. Most readers disapproved of the cartoon, kudos to the paper for publishing these letters.

One reader even had the nerve to say Louisville should secede from the Commonwealth.  Good luck.

As I sit here on this beautiful Memorial Day, which was established to honor American's and their families who made the ultimate sacrifice, I can't help but celebrate my American freedoms of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.  These people died so we could have all of our Freedoms, including Freedom of the Press.  I think The Courier-Journal should remember this next time such a broad generalization is made about its readers.

I ask Americans to vote your heart without fear of labeled a racist or sexist.  If we follow this, American’s can be confident the best leader will be selected.

A blessed American

When I was born, the doctor told my father “your wife is fine but your son will die.” Well 32 years later, here I sit as a true American living the American Dream. I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy when I was around six months old.

At that time, my parents decided to treat me as any other child. I was not babied. If I said “Daddy I can’t” my dad would reply lovingly “show me.” All through my life I have worked and struggled to be independent of others and have a normal life as a typical American.

When my parents discovered that the public school system here in Louisville was not challenging my skills enough, I went to private school. I earned my grades equal and fair as the other kids.

College was a challenge for me but I was hungry for success on my own. Did I stay home and go to school? Heck no, I went away and stayed at the dorm like the other kids. And no it wasn’t right down the street, I moved 100 miles away from home. With hard work, I succeeded and received a degree in General Studies with emphasis in Business and Psychology. This task was accomplished in four years.

I graduated college, and thought I was going to be able to take some time off and loaf around for awhile. I was  wrong. Dad put me to work the next Monday at his engineering firm where I am now the CFO. I assure you this was no cake walk.

I am married now to a wonderful wife and two of the best step children one could ever hope for. However, what is most important is that I am living the American Dream. I came through hard times and struggles but now my hard work is paying off and am a contributing member of society.

For those who choose to shower the American Public with hate, I pray for you.  As for me, if it was not for our great land I do not know if my life would be as fruitful.
